The Faculty of Education is committed to the development of competent leaders in education, who are able to operate in diverse environments, meeting the challenges of education in South Africa.
The Faculty highlights the importance of dealing with real issues that affect our country today. An example of a programme dealing with such an issue is the Advanced Certificate in HIV/Aids and Teaching. The Faculty is further dedicated to influencing the lives of its students so that they will be better teachers and so that, in turn, they will be able to make an impact on those that they teach. It is also a great place for international students to experience an education system that has to deal with various social problems within the classroom. The Faculty also places a strong emphasis on pre-service and in-service teacher education, offering a range of programmes to build capacity, equip teachers in priority areas and upgrade the qualifications of under-qualified teachers.
